A year on, college grads recall surprise of learning their student debt will be wiped out

Hey there! I read this really interesting article about college graduates having their student debt wiped out and I couldn’t wait to share it with you.

Basically, a group of 400 college graduates participated in a program called “Degrees of Freedom” where they received a full ride to attend college. However, they were not aware until their graduation ceremony that the catch was their student debt would be paid off. Can you believe it?

The participants in the program described the experience as surreal and life-changing. Many of them had already started to plan their lives around the burden of their student loans, such as accepting jobs they didn’t really want in order to pay off the loans as soon as possible.

This article really resonated with me because I am a recent college graduate myself, and I know firsthand how daunting student loans can be. I chose to attend community college for the first two years to save money, but even then, I still racked up around $20,000 in debt. Hearing stories like this give me hope that there are people and programs out there looking to help those with the burden of student debt.

Overall, I think the article highlights the importance of investing in education and finding creative solutions to help graduates who are struggling with student loans. It also shows how having debt forgiven can have a significant impact on a person’s life and future career choices. Definitely worth a read!
