The business of beauty is a booming one, especially when it comes to celebrities. We all want to know the secrets behind their perfect complexions and what goes into their beauty regimes. What makes their skin glow? What makeup do they apply to get that au naturel look? You would be surprised to find out which famous folks went undercover and started their own celebrity beauty brands. You would also be surprised to discover which celebrities started beauty firms incognito.

Some celebs did it for a good cause, and others just wanted to share their scientific beauty discoveries with the masses.

Here is a collection of celebrities that has created cosmetics and skin care products under the guise of their fame, without always using their names to front it.

Jessica Alba, who commandeered a healthy movement behind home products, has done the same with Honest Beauty. The vast collection, which launched in 2015, comprises of an overwhelming 83 products. It was recently relaunched and streamlined to 45 products, including makeup, beauty balms, skin care treatments, and hair products. They are all “uncomplicated products to let your vibe shine.” The line, which was developed with the help of cosmetic scientists, is effective and safe. There are no parabens, synthetic fragrances, or mineral oil.

Drew Barrymore began a line of affordable, cruelty-free cosmetics called Flower. According to its website, her mission is to “empower women by making them feel and look great in their own skin.” Her face products are known as Blush Bomb. For eyes there’s Warrior glitter shadow in iridescent colors. Prices range from $4 for face masks to $16 for eye shadow kits. Even her fragrances — Jasmine Venom, Lethal Oleander, and Narcissus Fatale — are below $20. At these prices it’s worth a try!

Lindsay Ellingson - Wander Beauty

Supermodel Lindsay Ellingson teamed up with entrepreneur Divya Gugnani to develop a line of beauty essentials called Wander Beauty. The name was inspired by their travels all over the globe. You can look like Ellingson in no time with her multitasking makeup and skin care lines. Their Jetsetter Makeup Essentials Kit has everything you need if you’re on the go.

Funnyman Will Ferrell developed a sunscreen that is no laughing matter. The SPF 30 lotion is designed to prevent skin cancer. Proceeds benefit cancer-fighting causes such as Cancer for College, a charity that provides college scholarships for cancer survivors. The packaging, though, is classic Ferrell. It reads, “The sun is an evil celestial demon. It tricks us into worshiping it with its warm alluring rays and bright primary color. Don’t be fooled. It wants to destroy us and is hell bent on world domination.” Ferrell teamed up with skin scientists and retired astronaut Brock Sternum to create what he deems “our best sunscreen yet.”

Movie star Salma Hayek has defied her age with a line of beauty products called Nuance. “Always remember to love the woman in the mirror,” Hayek writes on her website. “There’s nothing like being comfortable in your own skin.” Her AM/PM Super Cream moisturizers and facial creams are made with an ingredient that the Mayans used for centuries to rejuvenate their skin. Hayek’s luxurious, silky mane is the result of Nuance hair products enriched with exotic ingredients like blue agave extract, mamey fruit, meadowfoam oil, and raw honey.

Miranda Kerr wants you to “glow from head to toe” with her line of organic beauty oils and serums. Kora Organics was developed in 2009 by the model and mother to transform your skin via a healthier alternative. Kerr worked with a team of researchers and consultants in microbiology, aromatherapy, and organic chemistry to isolate key ingredients — such as noni extract, rosehip oil, sea buckthorn oil, and green tea — for natural healing. This beauty regimen doesn’t come cheap. Her three-step daily system — including Cream Cleanser, Balancing Rose Mist, and Hydrating Moisturizer — retails at $124.95.

Here’s the secret to Kim Kardashian’s smooth, unlined skin- organic Botox known as Biotulin. Kardashian reportedly bought the rights to the transparent gel, which claims to reduce wrinkles in an hour. The smoothing effects expire at the end of the day, but the wrinkles may reduce cumulatively “with continued use,” according to the website. No more needles needed here.

Rob Lowe is the perfect poster boy for looking young. The 50-something star still looks like he did in The Outsiders, which was over 30 years ago. Lowe has created a skin care line for men called Profile. The products contain “proprietary R³ formulas,” which stand for rescue, restore, and renew. Lowe’s male-only skin cream caters to thick, oily, porous complexions. The product names are low profile, too- Revive, Revitalize, Recharge, and Action.

Elle Macpherson is called “The Body” for good reason. She co-founded The Super Elixir with her nutritionist, Dr. Simone Laubscher, who formulated a daily green superfood powder using 45 premium ingredients. The products that Mendes can’t live without, according to Refinery29, include Portofino’s cream blush that she also uses on her lips. “We have a really amazing bronzing powder … and I love it because it’s Super Matte and you can use it for light contour, too,” she said.

What sets these oils apart is that they come from the hoya flower, which acts as a natural anti-inflammatory to help prevent skin blemishes.

While working as a guest creative director for Ciaté London in the fall of 2015, Instagram star Olivia Palermo developed a makeup collection. Her choice of blushes, eye shadows, eyeliners, lipsticks, and nail polishes “create a variety of textures and shades in the same way I love to mix patterns, fabrics, and accessories to style the perfect outfit,” she says on her website. The collection is available in Sephora.

Before she was a pop star, Rihanna was Robyn Rihanna Fenty, just a girl in Barbados playing with her mother’s lipstick. Rihanna was inspired to create Fenty Beauty to fill a void in the industry for products that traverse all types of skin tones. She launched a makeup line “so that women everywhere would be included,” and created formulas for hard-to-match skin tones. “Makeup is there for you to have fun with,” she says on her website. “It should never feel like pressure. It should never feel like a uniform. Feel free to take chances, and take risks, and dare to do something new or different.”

Beauty products are just another vertical of the Ryan Seacrest brand. Although his name doesn’t appear anywhere on the products, he’s behind it. Seacrest and his skin care advisor, Dr. Harold Lancer, are partners in the venture. The skin care line for men was inspired by Seacrest, who “had a vision of putting Dr. Lancer in a bottle and making him available to everyone.” The starter kit reasonably retails for $48, with an exfoliating Daily Micro-Scrub, a multitasking Dual Cleanse and Shave — which removes hair and dirt — an Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF 30 protection, and Daily Lip Care for those nasty chapped lips.

When it comes to natural beauty, Alicia Silverstone is not clueless. She teamed with Juice Beauty, a California-based beauty firm, to launch a vegan, organic cosmetics line. “It brings my commitment to the Earth and sustainability together with Hollywood glamour,” Silverstone said in a statement. “Organic products can be as luscious and work as well, or better, than conventional products.” The cruelty-free line contains a chamomile cleanser, moisturizer, lip color, translucent pressed powder, and facial highlighter. The ingredients almost seem edible- passionfruit, champagne grapes, white tea leaf, and cucumber. It is also eco-friendly, packaged in containers derived from recycled materials.

Former Real Housewives of New York City star Kirsten Taekman created a nail polish line called Pop of Color. Not only does it come in vibrant colors like electric blue, but it’s also paraben-free. (Parabens are those nasty preservatives found in cosmetics.) It’s also vegan, which is kind of weird since it’s not for consumption. It really makes your fingernails and toenails pop.

Jennifer Yen - Purlisse

Power Rangers star Jennifer Yen was on a quest to restore her damaged complexion, which was the result of wearing heavy makeup under bright lights for hours. She turned to her grandmother’s Asian beauty secrets to create Purlisse. The skin care line contains antioxidants like blue lotus flower, soy beans (to increase elasticity), seaweed (to protect against skin damage), and white tea (which defends skin from stress).

They are dubbed as “easy-to-use modern makeup classics and stylish perfumes with supermodel-approved beauty credentials.”

Perhaps the most surprising beauty line on this list is My Girl Skincare, which was developed by crooner Smokey Robinson and his wife, Frances. The brand is called Skinphonic, and it’s a line of creams and moisturizers “made for people with pigmented skin,” according to the website. It contains vitamins, botanical extracts, special marine ingredients, and essential oils. The complete My Girl Skincare Kit consists of AM Hydration, Twice Daily Cleanser, and PM Treatment Complex. You can almost sing your way to beautiful skin.
