You’ve heard that duct tape is the solution to every problem, but we bet you don’t realize exactly how true that is! Got a punctured tire? Duct tape. Need a portable doggy bowl? Duct tape. Last-minute gift ideas? Duct tape. There are duct tape hacks for almost every situation you can think of, and while some are completely normal, some are so out of the box that you might never have even considered them. Makeshift Pore Strip

If your nose is covered in blackheads and you don’t have any pore strips lying around (or if it’s just not MASCULINE enough for you), duct tape will also do the trick. Just apply a strip to the affected area, wait about five minutes, and rip it off like a band-aid. (NOTE- This is not great for your skin, and you should not make it part of your regular routine, but it will work in a pinch.)

Chair Marker

Don’t you hate it when you get in the car, remember you weren’t the last one who drove it, and then have to spend five minutes adjusting your seat? Duct tape can solve that problem! Next time you have your seat adjusted just the way you like it, simply take two small strips of duct tape and line them up, one on the floor and one on the seat. Now the next time someone moves your seat, you’ll know exactly what spot to realign it to!

Impromptu Cupholder

Do you get frustrated by the lack of cupholders on your lawn chairs or other furniture? Duct tape can provide a temporary (or permanent!) solution. Simply take a roll of duct tape and stick a couple of pieces to the bottom. Then, wrap the end around itself and through the arm of the chair. Voila! You have the perfect place to put your drink!

Dustpan Helper

Isn’t it annoying when you’re sweeping and the littlest bits of dirt just won’t go into the darn pan? Duct tape can fix that- Just add a piece between the dustpan and the floor as a sort of landing strip, and all the dust goes in. (Bonus- You don’t have to bend over to hold it in place!)

Pretty Pens

If you’re looking for something a little more artistic to do with your duct tape, give these pen toppers a try! They look difficult to make, but they’re actually very simple. Step 1- Cut up several square pieces of duct tape, about 3-4 inches. How many depends on how thick you want the flower, but we recommend around 14 to 20. Step 2- Fold one into a triangle so there’s a little adhesive showing on each edge. Then, fold it over itself again so there’s one adhesive edge left. Step 3- Wrap that triangle around the top of your pen, with the point sticking up. Repeat this process, offsetting the tip of each triangle, until you have a rose of the desired size! Stair Guides

If you get up in the middle of the night a lot, you’ve probably tripped down (or up) the stairs more times than you care to admit. Keep your evening excursions as quiet and painless as possible with a few strips of glow-in-the-dark duct tape. You CAN Open That Jar!

Don’t go running for help just yet- Your issue with opening that pickle jar is just one of leverage! To solve this issue, simply wrap a good amount of duct tape around the top of a jar, leaving enough hanging off for you to use as a handle. Grab that handle, pull at a 90 degree angle to the direction you wrapped it, and that lid should pop right off!

Patch Your Tire

When you puncture a tire, you aren’t usually in a place where you can immediately replace it. Even if you have a spare in the trunk, if you’re on the highway or in a high-traffic area, it might be safer to wait until you can get to a calmer spot to replace it. If you know where the problem is, you can patch it up with duct tape and still drive on it for a little while before it goes flat. For the most effective patch job, make an X shape with the duct tape, and be sure to smooth out any air bubbles that form.

Waterproof Your Shoes

It’s not always worth it to put on rain boots, or other waterproof shoes, for everyday tasks. If all you’re doing is mowing the lawn or doing work in a muddy yard, there’s a simple way to waterproof your more comfortable shoes. Just wrap them in a plastic bag, and then wrap that plastic bag in duct tape. You get a tight seal, and nothing will stick to your shoes.

Nobody wants to mess up when drilling a hole into their wall. For the perfect measurement every time, you can use the drill itself. Just compare the size of whatever you have to stick into the wall with the tip of the drill, and make a little duct tape “flag” where it stops. That flag will stick up and alert you to where to stop drilling.

Duct tape actually burns really well, and for a long time. So if you want to get more life out of your matches, or simply need a bigger flame, an easy solution is to duct tape several matches together. Just cut up a cardboard box into six rectangles, about the size you’d want a folded T-shirt to be. Lay them out three by two and duct tape the three middle pieces together along the long seam, as well as the two top ones along the short seam. Ta-da! You have a free folding board!

Makeshift Lint Roller

About to go on a date only to realize you’re covered in pet hair, with no lint roller to be found? Don’t worry! You can make one if you have duct tape and a paint roller. Just wrap some duct tape (sticky side out) around the paint roller and secure it with duct tape (sticky side in) at the ends. (Don’t have a paint roller? In a pinch, you can just use a smaller piece of duct tape wrapped around your hand and dab at your clothing with that instead.)

What you do is take your doggy bowl and wrap duct tape, sticky side out, around the outside. Then rewrap it, this time with the tape facing the other way, so there’s no adhesive showing. A duct tape wallet can be a quick holdover until you can get a new wallet, or a fun craft for kids! Making a wallet out of duct tape is a simple four-step process- Step 1- Lay out about four 7-inch-long strips of duct tape on top of each other. Step 2- Fold them in half and cut off any uneven edges. Repeat these first two steps so you have two of these. Step 3- Tape the two pieces together down the middle.
